COPESSA Annual Golf Day 29 September 2022 at Glenvista Country Club. The funds raised will be used towards community mobilisation, particularly targeting boys and men and the running costs of the Centre.
South Africa is currently experiencing high levels of gender-based violence and femicides, as attested to by the latest statistics released by the Minister of SAPS. Reported sexual offences have increased by 13,7%, and given that these kinds of crimes are grossly underreported the actual picture is grim. Sadly, the youth seems to bear the brunt of GBV, hence this intervention.
No one organisation can stem the tide of GBV in South Africa. We need a whole-of-society and community approach to change the odds faced by women, children and youth. Hence, the the community mobilisation focusing on boy children and men, and the running costs of the Centre. We are currently working on developing Monitoring and Evaluation tools for community mobilisation, which will help us to improve this activity. Please help us to stem the tide.
